Storeyline
Storeyline is a tower sim in the SimTower tradition: you get a patch of
street, a modest pile of money and planning permission for a hundred storeys.
Stack offices and condos over the lobby, keep the night bar away from the
accountants, and keep the lifts civil. The stars follow.
It is one HTML file. No engine, no install, no account. It runs on a phone.
What's in it
- A hundred storeys and nine basements: offices, condos, hotels with housekeeping rounds, restaurants, bars, shops, a gym, a clinic, a spa, cinemas, function rooms, a casino, a subway station, basement parking and an observation deck.
- Lifts that are the actual game. Per-shaft zoning, up to twelve cars on an express, skip-stops, home floors, express shafts and sky lobbies. Queues form on both sides of the doors and get visibly impatient.
- People who react. Every tenant has a mood on their face and a thought bubble when something is missing. When a floor is badly served they leave, and you watch them go.
- Advisors you can hire. Three consultancy firms will audit your transport and file a report. The figures always come from what your tower actually recorded: real boarding waits, real walk-outs, real per-floor boardings. The reasoning is only as good as the firm you paid for. The cheap one pads about four findings in ten.
- Replay a real commute. Pick a unit that's complaining and watch one recorded morning play back minute by minute, walking, waiting, riding and taking the stairs, with the worst leg named.
- An objectives board with three live goals: one for this week, one for this month, and one standing ambition. Sixty-three of them. Decline any you don't fancy, free, forever.
- Biscuits, and a tin to spend them in. Objectives pay in biscuits. The Tin sells a day when a standard lift car carries sixteen people instead of eight, free cake in the lobby, a night crew, fireworks, and a lobby cat, which does nothing, and is a cat. Everything it sells is a real change to the simulation, so the statistics stay honest.
- Things that happen to you. Kitchen fires with a fire brigade that parks at the kerb and raises a ladder to the right floor. Casino heists that arrive by helicopter, by wall climb, or straight out of a lift shaft. Bomb threats, shoplifters, VIP inspections, championship boxing and cage nights in the function room.
- A street that lives: pedestrians, a hot-dog cart, a busker, a bus that empties into your lobby at rush hour. An ambient soundscape, and light that changes over the day.
Playing it
Mouse and keyboard on a desktop; touch-first on a phone or tablet, with a thumb-reachable build button and propose-then-confirm placement. Your tower saves in this browser automatically, and you can copy a portable save code out and paste it back anywhere.
The online version at storeyline.net adds a free account by email link: private cloud saves, the same tower on several devices, and read-only links to show a finished tower to somebody.
Made by one person. Free. If you enjoy it there's a Buy Me a Coffee, and that's the whole business model.
